Gossamer Among The Ruins
The ruins of an old mill still exist along the banks of the Moose River in the Adirondacks. With the soft flutter of swallowtails adding bursts of brightness to the air, it was all I could do to contain my excitement. They were all over the place, puddling on the rocks, and flitting here and there. My family used to camp in the Adirondacks and the Moose River was one of our favorite places to visit. This painting is inspired by my visit back to the area this past summer. I was delighted to see beautiful swallowtail butterflies along the waters edge. Try as I might I could only implant the images in my memory (my camera was giving me attitude that day). As I began the composition for this painting, I decided to indulge in a large canvas. It was the middle of winter, and I needed a big project to work on. So, unlike my other landscape paintings this was not done ‘en plein air but rather from in my studio.
It is framed in a complimentary blue frame, ready to bring beauty to your walls.
